What Your Positive Review Does for Us

As a company, we strive to offer dog training that is simple, affordable and effective. These are the things we focus on daily. If you feel we delivered what we offered, we really appreciate reviews on any platform; Facebook, a tag on Instagram, Nextdoor, Google, or Yelp.

The higher number of reviews we get, the higher the ranking of our business on that platform. Positive reviews allow me NOT to pay someone else to manage my website and pass that cost onto my clients.

The more reviews we get, the more comfortable potential customers feel about choosing us. If you liked your experience, tell someone else, so they can benefit too.

We essentially work alone all day. We go to the client’s house, back in the car and repeat. We have no boss or comrades asking us how we are doing or patting us on the back. Joe and I only have each other and most of our conversations are on the phone. It can be a little lonely. A positive review makes us feel great! We appreciate the kind words, the vote of confidence and the personal boost. It makes us continue to work in a good frame of mind.

A review is even better than a monetary tip. A review helps us get more work in the future, giving us more financial security. We do love tips, though!!

Positive reviews build our business. Each client is like a brick that we lay. Each brick brings another brick, and another, until the fortress is strong! The more people that write one, the more respect the business gets. It can show how many years we’ve been at it, where our clients are, what kind of issues we deal with, what we did that was special or pleased you and why someone else should hire us.

Positive reviews help us keep our costs down. If we get a ton of reviews, we don’t need to spend on advertising. You are doing that for us! Once, very briefly, I paid someone to help grow my business. I paid him $80 each time someone responded to my ad. That cost went directly to my clients! I was charging $300 per appointment then. I didn’t feel good about it at all, so I changed the format. I’m kind of old fashioned in the way that I believe, if we work hard and offer great services, clients will be happy and talk and that word of mouth will continue to bring clients to us, and we will thrive. It works, but sometimes we need to ask for the support.

I hope this is food for thought. I realize some may not know the great impact that a positive review can have on a small business. It can be uncomfortable to explain things and ask for what we need, but I do it anyway! Lastly, these are the kinds of things we would love to see in your positive review:

1.      Did we communicate well? Were we respectful, sensitive, helpful, clear, etc.?

2.      Was the business easy to work with? Scheduling, follow ups, etc.

3.      What issue did you call about and did we make it better for you?

4.      Was the price of training worth it? Did you feel you got what you paid for?

5.      Did we go out of our way for you? Give you something for free? Stay beyond the appointment time? Spend time on the phone with you? Respond to your emails in a timely manner? Accommodate your rescheduling or cancelling appointments? Provided a resource that you found helpful?
